Gojo vs Sukuna: Who Wins According to the Community?

As of 1 November 2026, in 22 direct duels on VAINKEURZ, Satoru Gojo beat Sukuna 59 times out of 100. The strongest sorcerer of his era against the King of Curses is the fight the whole of Jujutsu Kaisen builds toward, and the community has now voted on it, one duel at a time. Here is what those votes say, and how far you can trust them.

The head-to-head

A direct duel is simple: a player sees Gojo and Sukuna side by side and picks one. Across every public TopList where the two met, Gojo took 13 of the 22 duels and Sukuna took 9. That gives Gojo 59 percent of the wins and Sukuna 41 percent. Most of those duels happened in one place, the world ranking of the Best Jujutsu Kaisen Characters TopList.

Gojo is the teacher with the blindfold, the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique, the man the series introduces as unbeatable and then spends its second half testing. He sits at No. 1 in the characters ranking with an ELO of 1605. The community votes for him the way the students look at him: as the answer to every problem.

Sukuna is the King of Curses, a sorcerer from a thousand years ago who survives as twenty fingers and comes back through Yuji Itadori. He sits at No. 2 with an ELO of 1454. Villains rarely rank this high on a favorite-character list; Sukuna does because he is the one presence in the series that never looks worried.

Where they stand in the rankings

A duel result tells you who wins when the two meet. A ranking tells you how each character does against everyone. Both matter, and here they tell the story of a series with two centers of gravity.

In the Best Jujutsu Kaisen Characters TopList, the question is simply who you prefer. Gojo is No. 1, Sukuna is No. 2, and Yuji Itadori, the boy who carries Sukuna inside him, is No. 3 with an ELO of 1375. The hero of the series ranks below both the mentor and the monster, which says a lot about what the community came for.

A second characters list, the community's other Best Jujutsu Kaisen Characters TopList, does not include Sukuna among its contenders. There, Gojo is No. 1 with an ELO of 1473. Without the King of Curses in the room, the strongest sorcerer has no one to share the top with.

Sukuna has his own home ground, the Best Jujutsu Kaisen Curses TopList, where he is No. 1 with an ELO of 1528, ahead of Mahito, Jogo and the rest of the cursed spirits. Among villains, the question is settled. Among everyone, Gojo is still in the way.

What tips the votes

Reading the numbers carefully matters more than quoting them. Three things stand out.

• The question changes the answer. Asked who their favorite character is, the community puts the two at the top and gives Gojo the duel. Asked who the best curse is, Sukuna wins without a fight, because Gojo is not on the list. The same character, a different question, a different place.
• Gojo benefits from the blindfold effect. He is the character people quote, draw and cosplay. Favorite-character duels reward that visibility. Sukuna's votes come from readers who like the villain to be the scariest thing in the story; those readers are fewer, and they do not change their mind.
• The data has limits. VAINKEURZ notes that head-to-head totals are cumulative and do not tell automated games apart from human ones. Treat the figures as a community snapshot, not a verdict from the author of the series.

If you like this kind of debate, the other Jujutsu Kaisen pages work the same way. You can rank the first-year and second-year students in the Best Jujutsu Kaisen Students TopList, or choose the most impressive technique in the Best Domain Expansions TopList, where Gojo's Unlimited Void and Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine meet again.
