Best Pokémon team bosses

1140 duels later, Giovanni, boss of Team Rocket and Team Rainbow Rocket, is still #1 in the Pokémon team boss/leader ranking, with Ghetsis, boss of Team Plasma, close behind.

Giovanni holds the top spot with 1337 ELO points and wins 66% of his duels across 149 matchups, but Ghetsis trails by only 5 points at 1332 ELO after 153 duels. The real divide appears lower in the standings: Lusamine, president of the Aether Foundation, commands third place with 1312 ELO, opening a 36-point gap over Guzma, boss of Team Skull, who sits at 1276 ELO. That margin marks the sharpest break in the ranking, splitting the upper tier from the rest. N, boss of Team Plasma, rounds out the top 5 at 1260 ELO despite winning 60% of his 159 duels. At the bottom, Rose, chairman of Macro Cosmos, struggles at 1066 ELO after 162 duels, while Cassiopeia, boss of Team Star, appears twice in the lower ranks, occupying both 11th and 13th place with widely different scores of 1121 and 912 ELO.

This ranking draws on 1140 duels submitted by 32 players across 13 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. The tight race at the top and the scattered results at the bottom reflect a community with clear favorites but no settled consensus beyond the podium. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
