Best elder scrolls games

227 ELO points separate Skyrim from Oblivion at the top of The Elder Scrolls ranking, after 334 duels.

That gap dwarfs the narrow 2-point margin between Oblivion and Morrowind at ranks 2 and 3, where the battle remains tight despite Oblivion logging 26 duels and Morrowind 25. Skyrim's dominance appears decisive with an 87% win rate across 15 duels, while the middle tier tells a different story: Oblivion holds 1254 ELO and Morrowind 1252 ELO, practically indistinguishable in community favor. Online sits at rank 4 with 1215 ELO after 22 duels, maintaining a respectable 45% win rate. The bottom positions reveal a sharp drop, with Arena at 1017 ELO after 17 duels and Daggerfall trailing at 1009 ELO with a 24% win rate across 21 duels, suggesting the earliest entries struggle to find favor among voters.

This ranking draws from 334 duels submitted by 38 players across 6 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. The data captures how The Elder Scrolls community weighs nostalgia against innovation, with the modern flagship holding firm but the classic trio refusing to fade. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
