Best Locke & Key keys

The Anywhere Key leads the Locke & Key ranking with 1324 ELO points over 25 duels, ahead of The Identity Key and The Plant Key.

The tightest race sits at the top, where a mere 3 ELO points separate The Anywhere Key from The Identity Key. The real divide appears lower: 36 points set The Plant Key apart from The Music Box Key at ranks 3 and 4, marking the sharpest gap in the ranking. The bottom reveals the least desired keys, where The Mirror Key languishes at 1043 ELO with a 33 percent win rate. The Omega Key and The Mending Key fare only slightly better, suggesting these keys fail to capture the imagination of voters despite their powers in the series. The Head Key rounds out the top 5 at 1248 ELO, trailing the podium but still well clear of the middle pack.

This ranking draws from 1093 duels cast by 37 players across 12 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. Each duel forces a choice between two keys, building a hierarchy that reflects which powers resonate most with the community. The Anywhere Key's teleportation appeal edges out transformation and nature manipulation, though the margins remain slim at the summit. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
