Best American Horror Story seasons

Season 3 / AHS: Coven leads the American Horror Story ranking with 1384 ELO points over 28 duels, ahead of Season 2 / AHS: Asylum and Season 1 / AHS: Murder House.

An 84-point gap separates Season 3 / AHS: Coven from Season 2 / AHS: Asylum at the top, marking the sharpest divide in the ranking. Coven wins 82% of its duels, the strongest performance among all seasons and a clear signal of its dominance. Season 1 / AHS: Murder House holds third place with 1231 points, while Season 4 / AHS: Freak Show trails closely at 1223 points after 33 duels. Season 5 / AHS: Hotel rounds out the top five with 1213 points and a 48% win rate over 25 duels. The bottom tells a different story about the franchise: Season 6 / AHS: Roanoke sits at rank 10 with 1090 points and wins only 35% of its duels across 34 matchups. Season 9 and Season 10 / AHS: Double Feature occupy the two spots just above, separated by a single point at 1120 and 1121 respectively. The later entries struggle to match the appeal of the earlier installments, suggesting the community values the original vision.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
