Best Spotify Songs 2022

As It Was – Harry Styles leads the Spotify ranking with 1340 ELO points over 81 duels, ahead of Jefe – Ninho and DIE – Gazo.

Harry Styles dominates with a 75-point ELO lead over Jefe – Ninho, the sharpest gap in the ranking and a decisive margin that sets the British artist apart from the pack. The battle for third reveals a tight contest: DIE – Gazo and FADE UP – ZEG P ft. Hamza & SCH both sit at 1260 ELO, separated only by their win rates of 63% and 54% respectively. French rap claims four of the top five spots, with Styles as the sole international presence at the summit. Suavemente – Soolking rounds out the top five at 1255 ELO with a 53% win rate. The middle ranks show compressed competition, with several tracks hovering within narrow ELO bands. At the bottom, Filtré – Timal ft. Gazo trails at 1078 ELO with a 33% win rate, suggesting the community reserves its enthusiasm for a select few tracks from this playlist. The concentration of francophone artists at the top reflects the voter base or the enduring appeal of certain musical trends.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
