Best Scary Movie films

1 leads the Scary Movie ranking with 1377 ELO points over 12 duels, winning 83% of them, ahead of 2 and 3.

The franchise favorite dominates with an 83% win rate, but the most dramatic split appears further down: 111 ELO points separate 3 from 4, the sharpest gap in the ranking. This divide reveals a clear fault line in fan opinion, with the first three installments forming a preferred tier while the later entries struggle to convince voters. 2 holds second place with 1279 points and a 60% win rate, while 3 secures the podium with 1204 points. At the bottom, 5 closes the ranking with 1046 points and a 25% win rate, suggesting the franchise's evolution away from its Wayans brothers roots left many fans cold. The 47 points separating 4 and 5 confirm that both later sequels failed to recapture the spark of the original trilogy.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
