Best the little mermaid posters

45 ELO points separate Ariel from Scuttle at the top of The Little Mermaid Movie ranking, after 904 duels.

The podium reveals a tight race between Ariel at 1332 ELO and Scuttle at 1287, but the sharpest divide lies further down: 94 ELO points separate Sebastian in fourth place from King Triton in fifth, the ranking's widest gap. At the top, Ariel's lead over both Scuttle and Main Poster suggests the character-focused posters outpace the ensemble design. The bottom half tells a harsher story: Prince Eric languishes at 1086 ELO with a 36% win rate, while Flounder, despite 46 duels, sits at 1118. Ursula's sixth-place finish at 1123 ELO signals that the villain's poster, while iconic, fails to match the appeal of the heroine and her companions.

This ranking draws from 904 duels judged by 57 players across 8 contenders, last updated on 12 October 2026. The data reflects which posters capture attention and loyalty when matched head-to-head, not box office figures or critical consensus. Whether you favor Ariel's ocean gaze or Sebastian's vibrant appeal, the ranking invites you to weigh in: vote now to shift the balance and shape the next update.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
